Yoyogi Sushi offers the following products and/or services:
» Restaurante - Restaurant (11)Yoyogi Sushi is owned and operated by Nancy Liu and her partner. It is their only restaurant. Although she is of Chinese heritage, Nancy told me that she always preferred Japanese food to Chinese food. She opened Yoyogi Sushi in September 2003. She is there every day to take care of her customers.
They have the fare common to most Japanese restaurants. It is not an extensive menu, but the various dishes are well prepared, served pleasantly, and are good value. The fish is very fresh; that is the sine qua non for a sushi restaurant. I always order the Sashimi platter ($12*), and have Miso soup ($1*) at the start of the meal. My wife likes the Udon, which is a seafood noodle soup ($5*), and is also devoted to Edamamen (soy beans) which are served steamed as an appetizer ($3.50*). Her favorites include the Maki Roll: California Roll (avocado and crab meat in a cylinder with rice), Eel Roll (eel and cucumbers), and Tuna Roll at ($3.50*) for six pieces. When it is cold outside I order the Beef Noodle soup which is a large bowl, single dish meal with some interesting spices ($7*). It warms, fills, and tastes wonderful.
There are a variety of lunch and dinner specials served from 11:30 to 3:00 for around ($5*). In addition, there are several different types of Sushi that may be ordered a la carte. These are carefully prepared in front of you (if you like) at the small Sushi bar. Each order is for 2 pieces per type ($3.50*). You may also have a side order of Fried Tofu with Tempura Sauce ($3.50*) and Oden (fish cake and vegetable soup) ($5*). Desserts are available: Green Tea and Red Bean ice cream. The ice cream is unusual.
The restaurant is nicely decorated with the sparse, clean lines in a typical Japanese style. There are delicate little paintings on the walls, a large fish tank, and solid, comfortable wooden chairs with small tables. In the summer there are tables with awnings so you can sit outside. The restaurant has a devoted clientele that seems roughly split between take out orders and people who enjoy the atmosphere and stay to eat.
